Chris Volstad has gone 24 starts without a win, but the Cubs right-hander wants to go beyond crunching the numbers to evaluate his performances.
"I'm done with that," Volstad said after the Cubs dropped their series finale to the Reds, 5-4, on Sunday at Great American Ball Park.
"If you've won five in a row and you've got a five-game winning streak, are you going to worry about not winning your next game?" he said rhetorically. "Or if you've lost five in a row or whatever, are you going to worry about losing? You're going to go out and try to compete and win each time you go out there. That's all I'm doing."
