Safety Michael Griffin's contract situation with the Titans this offseason was somewhat similar to that of Cortland Finnegan's a year ago.
But it had a different ending.
Whereas Finnegan never got the long-term contract from the Titans he sought, Griffin and the team on Tuesday agreed to a new five-year deal worth approximately $36 million, including $15 million guaranteed.
"He is a big part of what we're trying to do moving forward," Titans general manager Ruston Webster said of Griffin, who has been a starter for the past five years.
"We really want to keep a core of our players together moving forward. I think that's really important in building a team. Michael has the talent and character we're looking for in our players."
