Suns Thread: Nine teams are interested in Nash.

It's that time of year again and if you ask me then I believe we will trade Amare Stoudamire and the rumors you heard about him going to Minnesota, Golden State or Cleveland are completley false

Believe it or not, New Jersey is and are the front runners for the Amare sweepstakes with Chicago, Houston and Miami in the mix...

The Suns could give Amare a max contract but I pray the don't..
  2. S2000ManiaC Moderator

any team that signs amare to a max contract will regret it.

    he's just a glorified dunker.

his numbers get inflated because of nash and the system they are in. he can't play a lick of D and not exactly the healthiest of players.

I'm not sure myself that the rumors are "true", but the Cavs have definetly inquired about Amare (not sure thats a good thing). What front office source do you have that is telling you differently?
  4. mesahotguy5 SRMer

For the love of God I hope the Wolves dont trade for him. Suns will be much better off without him.

NJ & CLE? For what!?! Only 1 player on each team thats worth a damn. Brook Lopez & LeBron.
  5. The Rattler SRMer

The Nets have five first round draft picks in the next two years so we might take a few of their bums and a few picks.. Yi Jilian and Chris Douglas-Roberts has been mentioned..
  6. KMoney Administrator

I've heard NJ, Phi, Chi, & GS were the 4 teams with the best chance of landing him.
  7. TyKixx SRMer

Doesn't a player with an expiring contract loose his Bird Rights if traded midseason? If so, that makes trading an arm and a leg for an Amare or Bosh or Boozer a risk since resigning them becomes even that much more of a challenge.
  8. vick805 SRMer

I think the best for Amare would be to go to GS since Nellie runs the same type of offense he is used to and Nellie has no plans on implementing any defense anytime soon.
  9. The Rattler SRMer

The latest rumor is that the San Antonio Spurs have had internal discussions in their organization but the Suns and Spurs haven't talked at all.
  10. As a 76ers fan, I would love to see Amare as a 76er and think we have enough pieces to offer the Suns to make it work. I imagine Young or Iguodala and a package of picks and/or players would get the deal done. I just dont see it happening cause then Philly has to sign Amare and I just dont see it happening. The 76ers are a cheap team and stay under that luxury tax religiously. With the 76ers attendance woes, I dont really blame them.

I also dont see the Spurs? Who would you want off that team bad enough to trade Amare for? I'd rather have these guys listed below.... Plus do you really want him going to the Spurs after the tough playoff losses over the years?

I wouldnt rule out Golden State though. They have an even better talent pool that they need to weed out and why not get rid of those guys they dont see fitting in. Most of the guys are young and Curry is playing better without Ellis so I can see a package of Ellis, Biedrins, and additional players or picks making the deal work. GSW Hoops is doing well at the gate and can afford to sign him. Curry and Amare would form a nice tandem for the future.

The last team is Chicago. They have some nice big guys that dont seem to fit in like Tyrus Thomas. Throw in a Heinrich who might fit a Hornacek mold might appeal to Phoenix rather than losing him for nothing. Chicago would be loaded this year and currently are the 8th seed. Amare, deng, and Rose would be a tough out in the playoffs.

I think GS will have a hard time dealing with the Suns after the crap they pulled at the last draft with the Phoenix trade they backed out of.
  12. JShow34 SRMer

If I'm the Suns I try dealing Amare, Nash, Richardson and Hill. The Suns aren't improving anytime soon and if they do deal Amare things will probably only get worse. We all know that Kerr has done a completely crappy job as GM since he's taken over. If Kerr wants to have a job in two seasons, he'll trade Nash. It won't be the most popular of moves, and there will sure be backlash from the fans, but it will be better for the Suns in the longrun.

You may wonder who will take Nash, well I can bet Toronto will. Nash in Toronto would be a perfect fit. Toronto needs that veteran leader and a point guard who can run the system similar to PHX they run. Because Nash is Canadian, he will be an instant hit in Toronto.

Nash to Toronto for Hedo, DeRozan and Rasho

Atlanta may be a name we hear from soon about Amare. The Hawks need to keep Joe Johnson, the only way they will do so is by proving to him they are serious about becoming a contender. Atlanta is a good team, but they don't have the inside scoring to realistically beat Cleveland, Orlando or Boston in a 7 game series.

Amare, G Hill to PHX for Josh Smith & Marvin Williams

Then trade Richardson. Okla City perhaps?

    Then PHX looks like this:

    C- Frye
    PF- Josh Smith
    SF- Hedo
    SG- Barbosa or DeRozan
PG- ? Dragic? Try Barbosa here

While I don't know about your specific scenarios, I do like the idea of blowing things up.

The Sixers and the Heat have entered the Amare sweepstakes..

Were very interested in Igoudala but the Sixers want us to take Elton Brand and there's not a team in the NBA who will take that contract but we might take Kapono off your hands who is due 6.5 mil next year..

Now the Miami Heat wants us to take Jermaine O'Neal but that's not going to happen but the Heat do have players that we are interested in like Wright and Chalmbers..

Dragic is our PG of the future and what better teacher can he have who's better than Nash? His shooting has improved big time but his passing skills aren't quite there yet..

Barbosa at the 1 guard? Dude.. Barbosa will always be a 2 guard..

Yup.. Amare is as good as gone and were also trying to trade Jason Richardson..
  15. mesahotguy5 SRMer

Blow up the Suns. I dont know why theyre acting like they can win now. Sure they can keep winning about 45-50 games a year and be cannon fodder in the playoffs, but what good is that? I rather be terrible for a couple years and reemerge as a contender rather than be average forever.
  16. calibur SRMer

Trading for Amare is the last thing the Sixers need to do.

    1 - It'll more than likely cost us the 2010 1st rounder
2 - It WILL involve Iguodala and probably Speights
3 - Amare will want a max deal

This guy is in the second tier of upcoming FAs - he's not worth all that.
  17. The Rockets don't Amare, but Joe Johnson would be nice!

Um.. What? Sorry, distracted by the tits...

I don't have anybody to add today but Houston and Chicago are out of the running for the services of Amare..
  19. If the Suns took Brand off our hands would it be worth losing Iggy and Speights? Not sure... Just dont see it happening.

Sure wish we had signed Josh Smith instead of Brand now. I can safely say I was right back on that other board we sometimes haunt, my brother.
  20. The Rattler SRMer

Washington and Detroit our the newest teams on board in the Amare talks..

The Suns are interested in Carlon Butler and I have no idea who the Pistons would give up..

What I can tell you is that both teams have talked with Suns management in the past 48 hours..
  21. mason54 Banned

Rattler, what exactly are your sources?
  22. vick805 SRMer

I still think that if Amare wants the best for him then he should go to GS were they run the similar shoot first, defend last kind of game. He really hasn't been a great defender and I doubt he will try to become a defensive force. Or he should go to NY to try to lure LBJ there
  23. kevinwayne20 Banned

There has been Rumors about Detroit being infatuated with Amare for 3 years. They are a mess right now. I don't see any chance of them having the pieces to land him or the money to give him unless they trade Rip or Gordon. The thought of Gordon and Amare on the same team making insane money makes me want to puke.
  24. mesahotguy5 SRMer

If the Suns can get Rip or Prince in a deal that would be pretty decent. Detroit will have a good draft pick too. Not sure how that helps Detroit but I like it from a Suns side.
  25. The Rattler SRMer

It's called 7-10 hours of local sports talk everyday. I get to listen to my headphones when I'm working.
  26. mason54 Banned

So you get the same info that is released to the public?

Good to know. I really wouldn't go around claiming "this team is out of the running", without adding an "according to my local radio station" in front of it. That way, I can take it as worthless like I do with the majority of your other posts.
  27. kevinwayne20 Banned

And what exactly is this? I'm not sure I have seen a post that isn't purely an insult from you in weeks. Posters like this 12 year old is a reason this board consists of a dozen active posters and struggles to keep new posters around.
  28. kevinwayne20 Banned

Rip is 32 and is breaking down. He is also due 34 million in the next 3 years. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Now I heard this on Sports talk, no the resident kid on the site can call me an idiot.

I will defend Rattler here. I have lived in many places and for some reason the sports reporters in Phoenix seem to have much better sources or better relationships with the local teams than most. I was always amazed at how early some of them got information compared to other sports sources.
