SRM FF Keeper League - Trubute to Lawdog League Win

Discussion in 'Fantasy Football' started by Bpow0407, Dec 26, 2011.

I don't think that'd be needed. Just remember that your total number of keepers must still be between 1 and 5 when we do the final cut down.

I've let it be known already, I want Marvin McNutt. He's going to break rookie records with like 10 receptions, and 110 yards... he's gonna have one hell of a season.

Holy shit... what rookie is worth that?!!! I guess Luck is a QB of the future for a team, but, damn... Only guy I'm loading up like that for, is BJ Cunningham.
  5. J-Pass The Producer

Not even Trent Richardson is worth Welker by himself. Buckeye made one hell of a trade... funny enough, it's somewhat equivalent of the deal Mello made and got banned from the football league for lol.
  6. buckeye215 SRMer

He is loaded at WR so he was trading from a position of strength. Ive been having to play Crabtree so no brainer for me. I tried to move from 2 to 1 to get Trent, but Woody wanted Andre Johnson.
  7. J-Pass The Producer

Darren McFadden was even more highly touted than Trent Richardson and do you know what he did in his rookie season?

104 rushes for 347 yds and 1 TD.

I get wanting to acquire a player BEFORE he blows up, but you better pray that he actually blows up lol. This is why I was against the deal Mello made, you just never know what to expect. I took Adrian Peterson in this league as a rookie, and it was a great decision. Tannybrown (in the league at the time), took Marshawn Lynch, and it didn't pay off in the long run.

In another attempt to strike fire like I did with Peterson, I took Beanie Wells as a rookie. Which didn't work out how I had planned.
  8. dolfan2004 SRMer

Reggie Bush was also highly touted... but, neither of them are the stump built RB that Richardson is.
  9. J-Pass The Producer

Ron Dayne was. I like Richardson, I think he's going to be a stud RB... but I wouldn't expect him to be a #1 fantasy RB in his 1st season in the NFL.
  10. MeLLo SRMer

    Don't even get me started.

Keeper league, I think once they get some reliable outside game, he will be a monster, and he will rack up TDs.

If anyone finds this objectionable, just PM BPow and he can put it to a vote. If the league votes it down, it will affect what I do with number 4, so please let me know before my rookie pick is in. Thanks for your consideration.
  13. MeLLo SRMer

Didn't realize we were allowed to "vote" in SRM fanatsy leagues.
  14. Bpow0407 SRMer

I've been waiting to see if anyone else commented on it before I changed it. I'll give it a little while longer, and if no one objects, just assume that it'll go through.

I won't get to check in tomorrow until about 6pm EST (I'll check in at 6am EST, too, but not between), but you might not even be OTC by then.

Fellas, before you go thinking that I made a crazy deal for a rookie, realize this...

My options at keeper (initial 8 are):
    QB A.Dalton
    RB M.Jones Drew, B.Wells
    WR D.Bryant, J.Jones, W.Welker, DeSean Jackson, E.Decker

I wasn't going to be able to keep all those WRs, so it was either cut someone when we have to trim down to 5 keepers and get nothing for them, or try and trade for something. I personally was fed up with DeSean Jackson's inconsistency and was 99% sure I would cut him, so I considered him a throw-in in the deal. In my mind, it was really Welker for the #2. I really like Welker, but in the long run I feel I will be fine with the other younger WRs I still have. And I still have the #8 rookie pick also to take a flyer on someone.

Honestly, I haven't figured out who I will take at #2 yet, I'm going to sleep on it. Three guys being considered at the moment. I'll make my pick sometime tomorrow morning
  16. J-Pass The Producer

So your keepers would be... MJD, Wells, Dez & .... ?? You could've kept Welker/DeSean, now you're going to be keeping Dalton (not my pick for a starter in a FF league) and I'm guessing your rookie? I mean, the rookie will be a good investment, but I'd rather have the best WRs in the league.

But we're not the same person. We likely think differently and you made the decision lol.
  17. TyKixx SRMer

He can keep MJD, Beans, Dez, Julio Jones, Dalton & Luck/RG3 or whoever
  18. J-Pass The Producer

Ah, i didn't see that was Julio Jones. I thought Jacoby Jones.
  19. HizzO SRMer

The trade was done with the long term future in mind. I don't expect rookie pick #2 to do much this season, but hopefully he will be a solid keeper for 8-10 years, and an upgrade over someone else on my team. I admit its a gamble, but like I said I was going to lose a couple solid WR anyways with the cutdown to 5 keepers, why not take a shot on the #2 rookie. For the record, I also tried to do the same deal for #1 (Richardson) but got no response.

Heading into this fall, I'll have:
(likely keepers) MJD, Wells, Dez, Julio Jones
    (still deciding) Dalton or Decker
    Rookie pick #2
    Rookie pick #8

I agree that Dalton is not an ideal QB to have as your FF starter, but he is serviceable in a 14 team league. My team is still in rebuilding mode from when I took it over and joined this league. It starts with acquiring young talent.

Julio instead of Jacoby does make a world of difference lol. You really were stacked at WR.
  21. Bpow0407 SRMer

Heck, if its down to Dalton or Decker for the 5th keeper, I might just keep 4 and take a flier on a 5th round pick, see what you can grab from what other teams drop.
  22. Lawdog Administrator

Agreed. Give this one whatever time you think is needed at your discretion.
  23. HizzO SRMer

Update on pick #2. Since as BPow earlier indicated that we are not in a hurry to get this draft completed, I will take a bit more time today to figure out my pick. I will post the pick before midnight tonight (deadline indicated above). Just weighing some final opinions of some trusted offline friends. I wasn't targeting a specific player when I offered the trade, so I keep flip-flopping my decision. Do I make the safer pick or the risk/reward route...
  24. MeLLo SRMer

I have no stock in it, but I would imagine you take the running QB over the pure pocket guy in fantasy. RG3's floor is probably 500 rushing yards & you've gotta think he'll find the end zone a few times.
  25. J-Pass The Producer

Since Mello gave his 2 cents.... I would take Luck over RGIII, 100 times out of 100.
  26. woody1351 SRMer

i was thinking rg3, if i would have taken a qb. only for fantasy though, bc rg3 will have about 10 rushing tds.

  27. MeLLo SRMer

If I'm an NFL GM then I agree with you (Luck > RG3), but FF is different. In real football you'd take Brady over Newton, but it's reverse in fantasy football. What pocket passer breaks out as a rookie in fanatsy football?
  28. J-Pass The Producer

This isn't about their rookie seasons though, this is about the long-run. And I'd take Brady over Newton a billion times out of a billion.

A Vick like QB is an enticing option, but when push comes to shove, who would you rather have? Aaron Rodgers-type, Mr. Consistency, 4,000+ yds, 30-40 TD's.... top of the line QB, at his best is #1 in the league, at his worst, #5... or the Vick-type, who you always have to pray to god stays healthy enough to actually be your full-time QB. At his best could be #1 thanks to rushing yds, but at his worsts, ends up missing half the season.
  29. MeLLo SRMer

Brady had one of the best statistical seasons of his career last year & Newton still finished higher in fantasy (as a rookie).
  30. TyKixx SRMer

Hizzo can't keep both his rookie picks unless one of them is kept as 1 of his 5? How does that work?
