Mike Modano's final NHL season, with the Red Wings in 2010-11, was a disappointment. He suffered a lacerated wrist in November of that season and missed 41 games, finishing with just four goals and 11 assists.
Modano, who grew up in Westland and became one of the most prolific U.S.-born scorers in NHL history, has thought about attempting a comeback.
"It's been hard to let go," Modano, 42, told the Dallas Morning News about ending his NHL career.
