The Rangers still haven't made their anticipated move to acquire some top-line scoring.
But they continue to sign forwards that will compete for spots on their third and fourth lines.
Left wing Taylor Pyatt, who turns 31 on Aug. 19, agreed to a two-year deal worth $3.1 million with the Rangers on Tuesday after spending the past three seasons with the Coyotes.
So the Rangers have collected bottom-six forward free agents Pyatt, Arron Asham and Micheal Haley since the free agent market opened Sunday while losing gritty right wing Brandon Prust (who tied for the NHL lead with 20 fighting majors) to the Canadiens, and fourth-line center John Mitchell to the Avalanche.
