Goalie Ondrej Pavelec pleaded guilty to drunk driving less than two weeks before he finalized a new five-year contract worth nearly $20 million with the Winnipeg Jets.
But neither he nor his agent breathed a word of his conviction, or his car crash nearly three weeks earlier, at the negotiating table.
That not-so-little omission might be as troubling to the Jets as what Pavelec actually did.
"The organization was deeply disappointed to learn of this information (Monday) and is fully aware of the seriousness of this matter," read a Jets statement, Tuesday. "We will determine our course of action once we have the chance to meet and discuss with Ondrej in person, which we expect to do at the earliest possible opportunity."
