I cannot get over why New Jersey traded for Joe Johnson and that contract. Atlanta should be thrilled right now BUT they should also dump Josh Smith. His game is soley based on his atheltic prowless and it's not going to last forever. There are still a lot of free agents out there who can be difference makers or just go for the big $$ on bad teams and get their numbers. We shall see what happens.
  2. TyKixx SRMer

    JSmoove to Houston
  3. TyKixx SRMer

Sounding like Roy to 'sota... could be interesting.
  4. JShow34 SRMer

I don't think he has much left on those knees unfortunately.
  5. RONINVIPER SRMer

Ray Allen to the Heat for may be three years at 3 million per year with a total of 9 million??? He is seriously thinking about it.
  6. RONINVIPER SRMer

Possible four years $40 million dollar contract for Jeff Green with the Celtics....$10 million per, I do not know about that after his heart surgery.
  7. ACC Rulez SRMer

If Ray Allen goes back to the C's....they will have definitely upgraded their bench. Terry, Sulinger, Green...

    PG - Rondo / J. Terry
    SG - R. Allen / A. Bradley
    SF - P. Pierce / J. Green
    PF - B. Bass / J. Sulinger
    C - K. Garnett/ G. Stiemsma / F. Melo
  8. kofanis0880 SRMer

Yeah very interesting team... Still have 1st Jajuan last years 1st.
  9. TyKixx SRMer

I don't think so either. I have very tempered expectations. Best case scenario would be his limited minutes being effective 4th qtr minutes, similar to how Ron Harper was used in LA. I mean at this point he'd be our best wing in w/ the ball in his hands during crunch time. I live his bball savy... Will he be able to guard though? It'll be interesting to follow, even if you aren't a Wolves fan I think Roy us a guy it will be easy for the public to root for.

Sixers are amnestying Brand to sign Nick Young to a one year, $6 million contract. This might also signal that Lou Williams will not be returning to the Sixers.
  11. J-Pass The Producer

Maybe, but maybe not. Young might fill Meeks role. Either way, they still have a lot more money to play with.
  12. gco211 Moderator

The Meeks role was replaced by Turner mid-season, who is going to be starting this year from the beginning at the 2. We still need a back up point, but with Young being a scorer off the bench (i.e., Lou Williams), I can't believe the backup is going to be Lou.

Plus, I doubt Williams is interested in a one year deal, as every move this offseason seems to be to prevent any long term cap hits; even Spencer Hawes can be moved with the $6.5 million he's owed after next season if need be next offseason.

Edit: And the confirmation, via Lou's twitter, "
Philly, I appreciate you all. Unfortunately I will not be coming back, as an organization they decided to move in a different direction."

Good on him for a classy exit. I hope he gets paid well and is able to find somewhere he fits as well as he did here (unlikely) or can start. Either way, good luck to him.
  13. J-Pass The Producer

It's tough to say. I haven't heard much out there about teams wanting to sign him.

Regardless, there's money to play with. I'm not even sure who's left available. The timing on Brand's amnesty was really weird. You would've thought they would've made a move like that prior to the draft and FA.
  14. ACC Rulez SRMer

So teams with cap room can obtain Brand and pay a portion of the 18 Mil? or do they have to pay the whole thing? then if he clears....he is a free agent....and the usual suspects will be in play (Miami, Nets, Knicks, Clippers, etc)
  15. TyKixx SRMer

The Hawes deal takes them close to 40 million, that doesn't include the Nick Young deal or Harkless and Moultrie. At this point, I don't think Philly has any big plans in FA. Slim pickin'. Maybe a veteran PG to backup Jrue & ET.
  16. gco211 Moderator

I don't see us using much of that money this offseason. I think we decided we needed a scorer this season so we are not unbelievably boring, but didn't want to put much money on the books past this season so we can be active in next year's FA class. Thus, a good scoring 2 guard to a one year deal that we couldn't sign without amnestying Brand, plus Turner can play a little point if need be.

As for the timing, I think the Sixers let the market play out as we have no real need to sign anyone immediately, and would have been okay sticking it out with Brand if a guy like Young couldn't be had at the right price. I think maybe a one year deal for someone who can play the four and a PG backup is all you'll see moving forward though. After this season, we'll only have about $30-35 million in contracts (Turner, Holiday, Vucivic, Young, Iggy, and the rookies). And about $15-20 if we deal Iggy. We're set up to do big things next offseason, with the cap around $60 and a lot of money to play with.
  17. gco211 Moderator

Teams under the cap get first crack at him, and whatever they pay him is subtracted from what the Sixers pay. If no one there takes him, he becomes an UFA. Supposedly, the early team is the Mavericks. After missing out all offseason on all targets, they're one of few contending teams that are actually under the cap. We'll see.

  19. Negrodamus SRMer

Meh, not a bad signing with how much we signed him for.

And its only a year. He could put up decent numbers since he's the only guy who can put the ball in the basket. It's just a shame that he's a high volume shooter.
  20. J-Pass The Producer

The 2013 FA class isn't that amazing. We won't get Dwight... so who do we target? Josh Smith?
  21. gco211 Moderator

There' s a ton of good players coming off next offseason, even if many I think will resign with their current teams. But, it's at that time that they'll also need some trade partners to do it smart. Andrew Bynum, James Harden, Chris Paul, Al Jefferson, etc. It's a pretty deep class.
  22. J-Pass The Producer

Bynum & Paul will be signed long-term before they ever hit FA. So we get to pick from Harden & Jefferson? AH-MAZING!
  23. gco211 Moderator

Doubtful. You make a ton more money playing out the season and then resigning with your former team. That's why Paul turned down the $60 million extension and is waiting for the $105 the Clippers can offer him during the offseason. Though apparently a lot of teams think that he'll still try to wind up a Knick (though I can't see that working capwise.
  24. Ssg SRMer

I don't know what you do for a living but what ever it is you should quit. If you are able to tell the future id pack my bags and head to Vegas if I were you. Miss Cleo has finally met her match.

People thought the same thing about the cats in Miami.
  25. TyKixx SRMer

I don't understand whats wrong with amnestying Brand to potentially get Harden or Jefferson... the more likely alternative was simply to use the money on your own talent, which IMO still makes sense. So not sure why adding Al or Harden would be so bad.
  26. J-Pass The Producer

They wouldn't but I don't want to overspend on Harden, and I think Jefferson is a walking bandage.

It's not predicting the future, but there's no way in hell Bynum or Paul leave L.A. It's simply common sense.
  27. TyKixx SRMer

FWIW, I don't think they'd sign either anyway.

Jrue, ET, Moe, TY, Moultrie, Lavoy... and to a lesser extent Hawes & Vucevic are the core if the team. They'll use draft picks & w/e they can get for Iggy (young, inexpensive talent) to build up their young, team culture.

IMO, this is the correct thing for them. Even if it means taking a step backwards.
  28. TyKixx SRMer

The timing of it is weird though... Does this move have affect on the luxury tax?
  29. kofanis0880 SRMer

  30. Ssg SRMer

I don't see how it is "common sense". Bynum is being thrown around I'm every trade scenario out there and Paul is playing the last year of a contact for one of the worst franchises in all of pro sports. I don't think their returns are as automatic as you are making it sound.
