Have they decided to sacrifice the man in the pulpit in order to keep the congregation? Cut short the message to hold the audience?

Is that what it came down to? A choice? Them or him? One or the other?

If so, it's a grave mistake.

There's more plastic surgery needed down at the Scotiabank Saddledome than just the shuffling out of a head coach. That doesn't magically fix anything. The rot runs deeper, the staleness is far more insidious. A different face in front of a black-and-red backdrop post-practice, a different voice in the room bellowing or exhorting between periods, won't instantly guarantee a different Calgary Flames.
