Wild coach Mike Yeo has been trying to remain optimistic in the midst of a horrendous stretch.
It can't be easy.
Going into Sunday evening's game against the Colorado Avalanche at the Xcel Energy Center, Yeo downplayed the fact that his team started the day seven points out of a playoff spot and needing to jump four teams to climb among the top eight in the Western Conference.
"We're not out of this, but certainly time is running down here," he said. "We're going to have to win some hockey games. Especially we're going to have to win some games against the teams that we're trying to catch. That's tonight."
Well, "tonight" came and went a few hours later and the mountain the Wild need to climb now reaches into the clouds.
