The Flyers are set to extend coach Peter Laviolette's contract and expect a deal to be completed within a week, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Laviolette, 47, has led the Flyers to a 122-73-26 record since taking over the reins as coach in December 2009. His current contract would expire at the end of the 2012-13 season - but it appears the team won't allow that to happen.
