Kings Pick Up 2013-14 Team Options For DeMarcus Cousins and Jimmer Fredette

    The Sacramento Kings announced today that they have picked up the 2013-14 Team Options for DeMarcus Cousins and Jimmer Fredette. Cousins will be entering the 4th and final year of his rookie contract next season, while Fredette will be entering his third.

    The pickup of Cousins option is a no-brainer, and while Fredette hasn't performed to expectations, I'm betting that was also an easy decision for the team to make. The team has invested a lot into Fredette, and with newcomer Aaron Brooks on a short term contract, Fredette's development is still very important. It also helps that rookie contract team options generally aren't too expensive in NBA terms. Cousins meanwhile, will likely be viewing this year as a contract year of sorts, as he can qualify for a max extension before next season.
