The last time Phillies fans saw the team play at home, they were a much different squad.
That team had a four-game winning streak, an All-Star outfield and a tiny morsel of hope. Now, the Phillies return to Philadelphia minus 2/3 of that outfield and limping home after losing four games on a six-contest road trip.
Cole Hamels, who took the loss in Thursday's 3-0 setback against the Nationals, seemed like a man at grips with reality. As younger Phillies are called up for experience purposes, Hamels just wants fans to continue the 254-game sellout streak. Being out of the playoff hunt leads to less pressure for the new guys, Hamels said.
