In keeping with the Bruins' new policy of heading off uncertainty and drama by getting contracts done early, the team yesterday announced a multi-year contract extension for coach Claude Julien.
The 52-year-old Julien would have entered the final year of the three-year extension he was given in September 2009 — putting him in the uncomfortable position of a lame duck.
But even if Julien had some detractors within the B's front office after this rocky season and playoff flop, there was never any chance he'd be left dangling without a new deal. Julien and general manager Peter Chiarelli will conduct a press conference today at the Garden to discuss the move.
