Fullback Jacob Hester has told the Chargers.
He's told reporters.
He's told, really, pretty much anyone who's asked.
"I haven't kept it a secret," Hester said. "I want to stay in San Diego."
Now, he awaits word.
On Tuesday, Hester and his agent discussed future plans with the Chargers and at least two other teams — teams that all offer their own role for the veteran. In San Diego, it would be a new role in 2012.
The Chargers plan to turn to Frank Summers as their new starter in the backfield. Summers is a more prototypical fullback, a punishing bruiser at 5-foot-10 and 240 pounds. He was a fan favorite in training camp and spent last year on the practice squad.
