The proclamation raised some eyebrows nationally, but anyone who knows former University of Memphis guard Will Barton would know he was simply being himself.
At last week's NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, the always audacious Barton declared he was the best wing player available in the June 28 draft.
Was it cocky? Absolutely. But then again, that's Barton, whose draft stock appears to be on the rise following a solid showing at last week's combine.
"When you're doing something, you gotta give it your all," said Barton, who's in town today to work out for the Memphis Grizzlies. "What am I supposed to say, that I'm the fourth- or fifth-best (wing)? We're fighting for jobs and I feel like I'm the best.
