FFB keeper help - need to pick 1

So I joined a 10 team keeper league where we keep 1 player.

scoring is standard with these changes:
Passing- 1 point every 25 yards - so a 300 yard passing day would be worth 12 points
Passing- 4 points for a TD
Receiving- .6 points every 5 yards - so a 100 yard receiving day is worth 12 points
Rushing - standard .1 point for every yard - so 100 yards rushing is worth 10 points

My keeper choices I narrowed it down to are:
    MJD, RB, Jax
    Larry Fitzgerald, WR, AZ
    Rob Grokowski, TE, NE

Also we start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB/WR, K, DEF

My thoughts on the 3 players are:
MJD - hold out otherwise the choice
Fitz - good in a league that rewards more points for rec yards but who is his QB?
Gronk - a TE as a keeper? He was that much better than all other TEs.

That's tough. I really wonder if Gronk will have another year like last year. Sure he can but is it likely? I don't think so. If anything it will open up the field for anyone else.

Fitz is the most sure of the group and it doesn't matter who his QB. Fitz would come off the board real quick while I think Gronk might slip a round or two so you could always pick him up again.

The way the league rosters are structured, it would be more favorable to keep a running back. Personally I wouldn't take a tight end within the first 5 rounds. I usually am waiting until the last five rounds for them, but there have never been tight ends ranked so high before. I'd probably keep Fitzgerald (he always puts up #s, even with scrubs throwing him the ball) and spend my next couple picks on best RB available.

For my money, I think even with Skelton and no LT, you have to go Fitzy. MJD is a good but high miles player who will likely have a 2011 CJ2K kind of season after sitting out camp. More contract dispute issues in the future and Jennings is a very good #2. Gronk, yep, an elite TD, but one who is splitting catches with Hernandez and on a team that just got McDerp back as OC, which means that the WRs are going to get more of the receptions and long ball TDs. Gronk and Hern will both still get scores and yards, but you cannot repeat a statistical year like 2011 for themselves again.

This then brings us to Fitzy. I am less concerned about Skelton than Kolb, who I think is proving himself to be a fraud. The problem is more of a no LT with Levi Jones out for the season. If there was no LT injury, I would have reasonable faith that Fitzy goes 1300 and 9-11 TDs, but now, I see more garbage time and streaky scoring than consistent scoring there.

In short, I still think your rules favor Fitzy over Gronk under what I see are the conditions for 2012 and onward, but I also think TE fantasy points are coming down from the stratosphere a bit. Skelton and Fitzy have chemistry, the question is whether someone can protect Skelton enough to prove it. Skelton can throw the intermediate and long balls well.

I think Fitz will always be relatively consistent. He shouldnt have many games of 3 catches for 21 yards. That said, I have a hard time picking players off breakout years (Gronk, Cruz, etc) because you are paying for what they did...not what you think they will do

Eliminate MJD out of the mix. Fitz or Gronk, you really cant go wrong with either one. The way I usually view it...teams only have 1 "starting" TE whereas you can get a teams #2 or #3 WR and be ok so I go with the rarest, in this case it would be Gronk.
  8. I think you are right in leaning to Gronk archer. I'd rather have Gronk and maybe AJ Green, if you draft him at his 25th overall adp-than Fitz and
Gates who would be 49th overall adp. It's not even close. Elite tight ends are few and far between. With receiver there's a new Victor Cruz every year. If your choice was Megatron or Gronk that is a gimme. But with fitz who is sandwiched in a bag of tier 2 receivers you keep Gronk. Interestingly both he and Fitz are going about the same position in drafts so far around 17 overall.

I'm going back and forth between gronk and fitz now. I am leaning towards fitz because I just like him more and his consistancy.

Fitz was good last year, but not nearly as good as he can be if he wasn't on this god awful team. Skelton and Kolb are really shitting the bed and will continue to do so.

Gronk will guaranteed be good, but I'd almost take MJD over both of them at this point. It's a shitty situation to let two of these guys go, but MJD will get the majority of touches for Jax and he is still a great player.
