Felony charge against Bucs CB Aqib Talib dropped

    A felony charge against Aqib Talib was dropped by Dallas County prosecutors on Monday, according to his attorney Frank Perez.

    Talib was to stand trial June 25 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

    Talib, a first-round pick in the 2008 draft and a starter for the past three seasons, is still subject to punishment by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in a shooting incident 15 months ago in Garland, Texas.

    Police in Garland said Talib pistol whipped and fired shots at his sister's boyfriend.

    "We were prepared to proceed for a trial next week, but I'm not surprised the charges were dismissed,'' said Perez, Talib's attorney. "I think what happened was the assistant district attorney had a chance to review the case and he saw he had some problems.
