Weathered NFL veterans find ways to mask their pain.

Decades of football makes bones creak like door hinges; the mach-speed crash testing of their bodies bound to cost them in later years.

The Miami Dolphins announced their depth chart Tuesday, and the No. 1 quarterback listed is a nine-year veteran and former Pro Bowler.

Sounds impressive until you realize David Garrard has not taken a regular-season NFL snap since the day after Christmas in 2010 in a 20-17 loss to the Washington Redskins as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A year later, Garrard was recovering from back surgery and still struggling to get out of a chair, much less walk.
