Kaspars Daugavins's arbitration case will be heard July 24, but if the Ottawa Senators don't like the ruling, Daugavins could be finished as a member of the organization.
Daugavins, a winger who scored five goals and six assists in 65 games with the team last season, is seeking a guaranteed one-way NHL contract.
Last season, his salary called for him to earn $600,000 when in the NHL and $105,000 when in the American Hockey League.
