    The timing of the Pirates' continued offensive surge will suit them well during the next three days.

    They begin a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies today at Coors Field, home to some of the most prolific scoring in baseball this season.

    The Rockies, despite entering Sunday's games with a 34-53 record and tied for last place in the National League West, score 4.87 runs per game, which ranks second in the National League. They allow an NL-worst 5.62 runs per game and their pitching staff has a 5.25 ERA.
