What's hilarious is his group made sure to see multiple tax returns of all of his possibly VP nominations. They didn't want another person have the scrutiny of not paying taxes.

The only logical reason he is not releasing his taxes is because for a couple year period he paid nothing. He invests his money so he only pays capital gains taxes which are lower than the regular earnings rate. You are also allowed to claim capital losses. So the money he did make he was able to cut his taxes to close to zero.

I have no problem with him using the current credits and deductions because that is what they are there for. What I have a problem with is how he wants to hide this instead of putting it out there saying, yes, we need to change some of these laws and not allow people to pay no taxes. The only way someone should pay no taxes is if they lose enough money they fall into poverty levels.

I really hope Romney/Ryan don't win. They will be lowering the taxes on the rich but only spend 4% less than what is spent now. It will be exactly the same as right now except the rich poor gap will get bigger. Not only that they will take away funding for college students, which is a huge mistake.

Every time I read something about him I need to spray Lysol to get rid of the brimstone smell.

So they want to privatize medicare and the VA. It's interesting because a lot of their voters are old people and veterans. I almost want to see them get elected just to see these two ignorant groups of people (on the whole) get shafted and cry foul. I bet they would still blame Obama.

Something that is also pretty interesting is that these guys probably will lose their home states. Chances are that Michigan, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts will go democrat. That is just crazy. Now if they were viable candidates they would have a chance at flipping their home states but there is no chance in hell Romney wins Massachusetts.

    I don't like extremists.
Even if I agree with what they believe in.
I am pro-choice because I don't think I should have a say in what a woman can do with her body.
That said, i don't believe 15 year olds should get abortions either.
People out on the edge of any topic make me nervous. Moderate more inclusive stuff is what I believe in.
A Romney presidency might actually favor me monetarily, but the level of people it will not favor out weighs my personal benefit. More poor people results in more crime, more crime results in more prisons and more money being spent on prevention and incarceration. Nobody wins.

I find it interesting that the topic of discussion continues to be Romney's tax returns. Where are the real topics?

Unemployment when Obama took office: 7.8%
    Unemployment now: 8.3%

"I will cut the deficit in half!" - Obama 2008
Added $5 trillion in new debt.

Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago? Most people would say no.

42 staight months of unemployment above 8%. Unemployment for blacks and young people (ages 18-29) almost double that.

    It's the economy stupid.

Unemployment due to Bush's stupid economy hit double digits. Obama had to recover from that. How do you not get that? It is such bullshit for people to say Obama added to the unemployment rate like you just did there.

While he didn't cut the deficit in half he did cut it some what. Cutting the deficit doesn't mean you are cutting debt, maybe you should learn the difference.

Are we better off now than we were 4 years ago? No, because the recession didn't hit the bottom 4 years ago. Are we better than we would be if McCain was elected? Hell yes. He wouldn't have even killed Osama Bin Laden. Obama who is supposed to be a weak president did make that call.

No shit the unemployment is that high, did you happen to see the recession and the housing bubble burst? None of that is Obama's fault.
  8. chevy706 SRMer

Seriously? The recession "ended" in June 2009. The unemployment rate at the time was 9.5%. 18 months later it was 9.4% There has been zero effective drop in the unemployment rate since January, and we're on our way back up, more than 3 years after the recession ended.

You're going to call BS when somebody credits Obama for the unemployment record of his term, but you're going to claim that he killed Bin Laden?

When I was in Iraq, we had strict rules of engagement according to the Geneva Convention. The military still follows the same rules, except the Commander in Chief who gives little regard to collateral damage with his drone strikes on his kill list.
  9. gribbzz SRMer

Oh so you realize the recession ended and the economy is growing. Cool.

It takes longer than 4 years to fix problems that took 8 years to create.

Obama has balls yet he doesn't get credit for it. He got bashed saying he didn't have the balls he has shown but now he is terrible for being something that he was accused of not being. Confusing.

The facts remain that this is the slowest and weakest recovery from a recession in our country's history. More than 3 years since the recession was "over" and we're still in an absolute mess. Now, despite the fact that raising taxes while attempting to recover from a recession has never worked, he wants to raise taxes on small business, he already raised taxes on the middle class with his health care entitlement, and the two areas he cut taxes (SS and Medicare) are the two that are in the most financial trouble! Medicare's own accountants said it'll bankrupt in 12 years!

Why are giving Obama credit for having "balls"? For violating Geneva Convention laws? For legislating from the White House?

Don't you think if Obama was a good president as you seem to claim, that he would be campaigning on his accomplishments? I don't recall Bill Clinton and his team calling Dole a felon, a taxcheat, a racist, and being indirectly responsible for killing anyone's wife. Hell, even Bush ran on his record. But when you preside over the weakest recovery in history and half the country isn't a fan of your signature "accomplishment" you attack your opponent.

Due to the republicans and their record number of filibusters. They have stone walled the president because they don't want him reelected. It's a real shame, people aren't getting back to work as quickly as they could be because a bunch of politicians want more power to give more money to the richest people in the country. And hardworking americans don't see this, its baffling.

I honestly don't care what Obama does on a war front. He didn't send our soldiers to the bullshit war, he inherited it and had to deal with it.

How many budgets has Congress passed that Reid refuses to bring to the Senate Floor? How about bills total? You want to talk stonewalling, start with that Liar Reid.
