Carlos Quentin would help Tigers more than a second basemen

    It's easy to say the biggest issue the Tigers have to solve as the trade market heats up this month is second base.

    The position, manned primarily by Ramon Santiago, Ryan Raburn and Danny Worth, ranks among the worst in the American League offensively by any number of stats: .204 average, .278 on-base percentage and .272 slugging percentage. Their fielding isn't necessarily pretty, either.

    But extenuating circumstances mean the Tigers might better use their limited resources in other directions, such as pursuing a corner outfielder like Carlos Quentin of the San Diego Padres.
