Brewers' lead disappears with poor pitching

    Randy Wolf is certainly not the only starting pitcher behind whom the Milwaukee Brewers' bullpen has performed poorly this season.

    It only seems that way.

    Another Wolf start, another dismal showing by the bullpen Saturday night. The result this time was an 8-6 interleague loss at U.S. Cellular Field to the Chicago White Sox, who scored the final four runs of the game.

    It was the fourth consecutive start in which Wolf departed with a lead, and the sixth time in his last nine outings, only to take home a loss or no-decision. It has gotten so ridiculous that manager Ron Roenicke second-guessed himself for removing Wolf in the sixth inning with a 6-4 lead, a runner on second and one out.

    "I know it's the right way to do it to take 'Wolfie' out there but I questioned it after things kept happening," said Roenicke. "Even though I think it's the right move, I feel bad about it.

    "He didn't throw the ball as well as he has the last few outings. But, still, he's out there battling, giving us a chance to keep in the game. He's got the lead and we need to keep it for him."
