With less than two weeks now left until the NBA draft, it's getting close to the time the Raptors would like to be weeding out pretenders from contenders for the eighth pick, should they not find an amenable trade to make.

They have had in most of the players most closely linked to their selection — three significant ones Thursday who present quite different stories.

Connecticut guard Jeremy Lamb, trying to dispel rumours he's not tough enough to survive in the NBA, was briefly part of a morning workout session, rolling his ankle early in the process and shutting down for the day.

"We've had a couple of injuries," said Raptors executive Ed Stefanski. "Lamb hurt his ankle after about five minutes, we had Alex (McKechnie, the team's director of sports science) look at him but he just couldn't go so we had to scratch him."
