Pitcher Bud Norris will go through his regular day-off routine Saturday as the Astros determine if he is recovering sufficiently from taking a comebacker off his left foot Wednesday to make his next start.
"We'll see how he does on his throwing program and move on from there," manager Brad Mills said. "As of right now, we're not expecting him to miss a start."
Moving through the Astros' casualty report, Mills said shortstop Jed Lowrie, who has been on the disabled list since July 15 with a sprained right ankle and an injury to a nerve in his leg, "is progressively moving a little bit more and trying to build up that strength" in his knee.
Center fielder Jordan Schafer, on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 7 with a separation of a joint in his left shoulder, probably will begin a rehab assignment in Corpus Christi as early as Monday or Tuesday, Mills said. Reliever Francisco Cordero, on the 15-day DL since Aug. 3 with inflammation in his toe, "is not ready yet to throw off the mound, but that is coming shortly," followed by a rehab assignment, the manager said.
