Well, I learned two things last night:

      1. Hopslam is one of, if not the best hoppy brew I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Awesome beer. Very drinkable, wonderful balance of very distinct flavors that blend together perfectly. Also just perfect consistency - great to look at, smell, and drink. And hard to believe it's a 10% brew until you get to the bottom of one and notice a difference.

      2. No beer is worth $26.99 a six pack.

That Old Engine Oil sounds like something I'd like to experience. Pswift (remember him?) was at my house last night too. He's a pretty accomplished and dedicated home brewer and he got a kick out of your OEO description.

I have, and I really like it. I just chased down a six pack of Bell's Hopslam. Are you familiar with this? All the hopheads have been raving about it, so I figured I'd check it out. Apparently it sold out at my local beer market before they even got it on the shelves. I was driving past another place that I thought might have it so I stopped in, and as the guy was unloading the truck the lady in front of me in line bought two cases - at $26.99 per SIX PACK. She spent over $200 on two cases of beer. My curiosity got the better of me and I bought a six pack myself. The driver who was unloading it said "take it home. Take it home NOW and drink it." Like I was holding a golden ticket. The beer garden around here is getting it on tap. I bet they sell it for $12 a pop.

I'm a total hop-head. I love the really strong really hoppy IPAs and rye IPAs. I dabble in Porters, too, especially in the winter months.

If you have access to the Terrapin beers, check out their Wake & Bake Oatmeal Coffee Stout, and their Moo Hoo, a chocolate milk stout. This is my favorite brewery. They made their name with their hoppy stuff, but the stouts are excellent too. I really loved the Wake & Bake.

Dude, I just saw on my visitor messages that you recommended Southern Tier brewed beer to me over a year ago. I had totally forgotten about that, but I've been drinking a ton of it at our local beer garden. The 2xIPA is awesome, and I know their Punkin brew was extremely popular too. The other night they were pouring the Couvee - a really strong belgian-style ale that is apparently aged for four years in casks of two particular kinds of wood, one of which is imported from France. Or something. I've been told that they're not going to brew any more of it, so if you can get it, I recommend it. It's a sipping beer, and you won't want more than one, but it's interesting and carries a nice kick to it.

Liked it alot, but I didn't try the ice cream thing. I should've, but I didn't have any around when I had the urge to drink it.

But if you're on the fence about the Stone, you should go for it. It's expensive (I paid $7 for a 22 oz.). But it's 9.5%, so one of those 22's will get you feeling pretty good about yourself.

If you're into the hoppy brews, check out the Stone Brewery 13th Anniversary Ale. It was a release in June. To me, it's a mix between Stone's Arrogant Bastard and Stone Ruination IPA. Kind of starts out with the Arrogant Bastard malt and goes into the bitter Ruination hop finish. Highly recommended, but unfortunately only going to be out for this year.
