Default Palin's a quitter!

I'll get a link, but just saw on CNN that Sarah is hanging 'em up as Governor.

Good for her. I am not sure her reasons, but I hope it is for the kids. I have always questioned if anyone with yon kids shold be in political office. If you read story's from the kids point of view it is always hard on them. I believe Ben Franklins kids said he was a horrible father because he was always to busy for them and most others hint to the same thing.

It'll be interesting to see where she ends up. I'd have to believe this wasn't just an out-of-the-blue decision. My best guess is that she will become a CEO of some large corporation or will join the entertainment industry in some capacity (the ying to Oprah's yang?).

I am not a fan of Palin's politics, but it amazed me how cruel the left was to her. She had arguably more experience than Obama and maybe even Clinton. We have a comedian in Franken joining the Senate and there's no mention of the experience question. She had as many 'dumb' radio bytes/ TV clips as Biden which isn't saying much I will admit, but she was verociously attacked whereas Biden was given the shaft.

I don't want her to be President, but the utter disdain and hatred thrown her way was uncalled for.

I am not sure, but I have heard she is going to start focusing on a presidential campaign, not sure how true it is, because this would be like handing your opponent a shotgun in a fist fight... So I think it is for reasons more along the lines of what you are suggesting.

I think the experience argument is BS for anyone, because I am pretty sure we want people not rooted deeply in our corrupt political sector... And just going off qualifications, Franken is a highly qualified individual, not over look him based on his entertainment past... (BTW, him and that other guy were great in Coming to America, as the guards)... very smart person.

Prove it to me. If so, the entire 2009 class at Harvard is highly qualified. Other than being a bad comedian (but a good writer), he has nothing on his record that shows me that he's fit to serve. No military service, no volunteer service, no community organizing experience, etc.

He is the equivalent of Bill O'Reilly.

The only qualification he has to be a politician is that he doesn't pay his taxes or workers' comp insurance for his employees.

-------------------------

For me, I want to see someone that has shown leadership and initiative for a number of years. Believe it or not, intelligence is not the #1 factor in my book. I want someone who is a great manager, leader, and diplomat... and who also shares the same views as I do.

-------------------------

Sorry for the hijack, back on topic. I honestly see Palin joining the business community. I see her becoming a CEO of some established company, so in 4 years, she can run as the business/capitalist candidate that can show what Obama and congressional Democrats were doing is/was bad for the country as a whole.

Right now, she wouldn't be my candidate.

Al Franken, from the state that elected Jesse Ventura. I agree with you for once.

I've heard Palin is gearing for 2012 as well. Personally, I think that would be a terrible move for the Republican party. If she's the best they have, then they'd do better just forfeiting the election and hording the funds for 2016.

Doesn't seem like she knows why she quit:

Quote:
At one point, she suggested she was quitting because people had made cruel remarks about her baby Trig, and at another, she seemed to be saying that she was being forced out for being too effective, and also because various ethics investigations into her administration were wasting public dollars. Listening to her talk in furious circles, it was hard to say whether a) some new scandal was about to break, b) she'd had enough of politics, thanks, or c) on the contrary, she was only getting started and was quitting to run for president. With a $7 million book advance and supporters who would love her regardless, she in any case didn't need the job, and my money is on d) she just plain felt like it.
Regardless, if anyone thinks this will bode well for her bid in 2012, your are crazy. The heat got too hot for her and she bailed, that's not what I want in a President. In the back of my mind, if North Korean loony calls her names is she going to say it is too tough to deal with. She is a quitter and this will be nothing but bad publicity.

Palin also complained that her 14-month-old son, Trig, who was diagnosed with Down's syndrome, had been "mocked and ridiculed by some mean-spirited adults recently." She didn't elaborate.
Quote:
"I cannot stand here as your governor and allow the millions of dollars and all that time go to waste just so I can hold the title of governor," Palin said, referring to the alleged impact of multiple ethics complaints against her, most of which have been dismissed.
Quote:
"She felt that the pressures of the job combined with her family obligations and the demands and desires to help other Republican candidates led her to decide not to run again. Once that decision was made, she realized, why not do it now and let the lieutenant governor take over and get a head start on his election," Malek said.
Quote:
Fred Malek, a Republican strategist who has advised Palin over the past year, said Palin was "really unhappy with the way her life was going."
Is it her personal life or too much politics for her to handle?

I'll say it again, it sounds like a bunch of things and she doesn't truly know but I bet in the end, some sort of scandal she couldn't weasel out of was her downfall. But that is pure opinion and nothing factual. No one quits politics like this if there are seeking higher office.

The fame, she could not handle it. The republican party does not need her. She is far too polarizing a figure, and quite frankly, I doubt she knows fuck-all about much of anything.
