Rep Power: 14 | | Is the NFL trying to protect Peyton's legacy/rep? This isn't my question, just something I saw on a couple blogs today and it does raise an interesting question. The NFL Network is airing the 2006 AFC-CG between Indy & New England.....SIX times in the next 10 days. Now I've seen them air a game during the primetime hour (7 or 8, depending on where you live) then the re-play later that night at like 1am. I've never seen the same game shown over and over during the week, much less over two weeks. So some media honks are asking the question....why? Is the NFL protecting Manning's rep by showing arguably his greatest win due to the severe backlash and criticism he received after the Super Bowl?
Something to it or much-ado about nothing? |

Rep Power: 20 | | I believe the NFL is trying to save Peyton's rep. The NFL has been desperately looking for that QB that has all the big stats AND the Super Bowls. Think about it, you've got the all time leading rusher in Emmitt Smith with 3 Super Bowls and the all time leading receiver in Jerry Rice with 4 Super Bowls. Of all the QB's with many Super Bowl victories, although they have good stats, they don't have the records. They want that QB that can ever stick out for having both.

Rep Power: 11 | | I hate that douchefag so I can really care less if you try to shove one of his greatest games from about three years ago; it still won't erase the memories of his fuck ups and that sweet interception he threw on the Super Bowl

| His interception in the Super Bowl is definitely one of the top choke plays in Super Bowl history.

Rep Power: 0 | | With Favre now as much a me-first dick as TO and the like, the league is most certainly needing Peyton to step up and get a couple more rings and all the records (except the 300+ INTs)...
So, yeah -- I think they're trying to protect him to give the NFL one (apparently) family-friendly mega-hero. |

| That's true. Drew Brees is the Super Bowl MVP, and the NFL should be focusing more on the greatest moments of his career. Because frankly, most NFL fans know just about everything about Peyton, Brady and Favre's careers. Drew Brees is up there with them, yet most NFL fans outside of New Orleans and maybe San Diego know little about him.

Rep Power: 17 | | It appears they probably are because there is no reason to go back and show it right after the superbowl. You should be seeing the Saints games from this year. I'd like to see the one against the Dolphins where they came back and every one of their playoff games again. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
