Rep Power: 10 | | BCS or Playoff? The top three teams in the country are unbeaten. There are several others not even in the top five. Either Texass or Texas Tech will fall from the unbeaten (Saturday). If that team is Texass, then who moves up and who does does not?
Texass has a pretty rough schedule to finish. Alabama has done well but has looked lack-luster more than once. Also, it is unlikely that Alabama can beat LSU at home, and then Florida; or Georgia for the second time.
Penn State has a cake-walk left but how well does that bode for them in the rankings?
Other teams are complaining. Utah is unbeaten, Boise Sate is unbeaten and Ball State is unbeaten. While the three aformentioned teams would still not work out in a "BCS Plus 1 system", they all have a legitimate argument.
If the top three win-out, someone is left hanging. As an Alabama fan, I would certainly rather play Penn State than Texass! Go Texas Tech!
Thoughts?

Rep Power: 18 | | I think Utah, Boise State, or Ball State all have a good shot at beating Penn State.
Penn State should not be in the discussion. Their best win is a team that got killed by USC.
How mad are the SEC and Big 12 fans/schools going to be if it ends up Penn State vs USC

Rep Power: 8 | | your logic is fucked up. Penn state beat the team that beat USC and beat them by 40. Oh, and they beat a great OSU w/ their running back actually playing (a big, big reason they are a great team).

Rep Power: 25 | | I would like to formally rectract all statements made by myself calling the BCS the "Buckeye Championship Series". I'd like to change that to the "Big 10 Championship Series".
Why would the Big Ten add a Big Ten championship game when they already have one....the National Championship.
For those who may not know, I am a fan of Iowa (who I actually think has a chance to knock of Penn St.) , but even with Big Ten ties I can honestly say that the conference fucking blows.
Penn State has a nice team this year and I really don't mean to disrespect them, but I see no way they are in the conversation if they had to play LSU/GA/Bama/Florida or Texas/TTech/Mizzou/OK/OKST. Not only is their schedule not strong, but it was actually pretty weak....Coastal Carolina, Temple... really? Their only and most impressive win is Ohio State. C'mon.

How mad are the SEC and Big 12 fans/schools going to be if it ends up Penn State vs USC | It will be Penn State vs. Texas... I would bet on it... I think Bama is better than PSU, but Bama will lose, if not I will be shocked... also, USC shouldn't be in it based on your logic... they beat an OSU team without their best player (on the West Coast)... PSU went into Columbus and handled them, with Beanie. As of now PSU hasn't lost to a shitty opponent like Oregon State... oh yeah, USC plays in the weakest of the BCS conferences, and have no opponents left in the top 25, they will not climb unless alot of teams fall, and I don't see that happening, and if it does, I think a 2 loss SEC team beats them out.

My matchup was completely based on what would piss off the otr conferences the most.

Rep Power: 15 | | Mark me down for a playoff--
But it wouldn't be the plus 1 playoff
It would be more radical---
Force every BCS league to have a championship game--
It would be--
Every BCS conference would have to have a championship game--to qualify for a BCS championship automatic bid
The top 4 BCS Champions would get a Bye--and those teams would host in the Orange Rose Fiesta and Suger
while 2 conference champ teams would match up with 6 at large--and play in the highest bidding Bowls left
That would give you a 12 team format---Qtrs semi's and a Super bowl
and the only way for Notre Dame to qualify--is to join a conference--or as an At large
as for my guess who we see at the end---Penn State--Florida  Did you find this post awesome? Yes |

Playoffs.
Let JoePa go to Pasedena to face USC in the consolation game and let's hear both he and Carroll bitch about what should have been. Did you find this post awesome? Yes |

However, there are "prestige" points rendered by the BCS. OU and USC had more of them than Auburn.
I'm not "tooting" the crimson horn so-to-speak, but If Alabama had been 12-0 in 2004 with as impressive of wins as Auburn had....Well, the championship game would have been either Bama vs USC, or Bama vs Oklahoma.
That is essentially what is not fair about it!

Rep Power: 13 | | The thing that pisses me off about this is how simple it would be to fix this. The only thing they have to do is have the top 4 teams play each other tournament style and go with one more game for the national title. Easy. Ratings bonanza, cash cow and most importantly no questions of legitimacy. It is rare to have 3 undefeateds at the end of a year. The plus one would solve that. Sure there will be wrangling over the #4 spot but more often than not your case won't be bulletproof. That is the way it should be. I would love an 8 team playoff but that would be significantly more complicated. Plus one would be simple and effective.

It even leaves room for a cinderella or if you have two of the top teams who're in the same conference and face each other in their conference championship both could still get into the top 6. Rep Power: 9 | | I'd like to see every conference play a championship game or not play a championship game. Enough of the Pac-10 and Big 10 not having to play one and everyone else having to. The current sytem is flawed and doesn't create a level playing field.
I'm in favor of a playoff system but that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon...
