Who would have thought that this offseason would be this great and full of big names changing uniforms??
Quote:
Rasheed Wallace may be joining Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in Boston.
The Celtics offered the mercurial but talented free agent a contract using the mid-level exception Thursday, according to the Boston Globe.
All three of Boston's stars traveled to Detroit to meet with Wallace, as did Celtics coach Doc Rivers, president Danny Ainge and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck.
Wallace, 34, spent the past six seasons with the Pistons, helping them win a title in 2003. The power forward averaged 12.1 points and 7.4 rebounds last season. Despite his age and penchant for technical fouls, Wallace is a wanted man in the free-agent market. He is expected to draw interest from other contenders, including the Spurs, Magic and Cavaliers.
Perk KG Doc and even guys like Pierce and Rondo who can explode.
Also they would be one of the few elite team in NBA history where the worst shooter on the court would be their potential starting pg who could be an all star...
is he really gonna be willing to come off the bench?
I am not convinced he'd be coming off the bench.
Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
Wallace
Is a pretty formidable lineup considering Wallace can guard both the 4/5 exceptionally well. I would then have Perk coming off the bench to spell either and still get close to 30 minutes of PT.
After seeing Turkoglu go to the Raptors, if I was the C's I would also target Marion as an option off the bench.
Rondo and Marion would be amazing to see in the open court.
Reports: Rasheed Wallace agrees to deal with Celtics
Two newspapers are reporting the Celtics have reached an agreement with free agent Rasheed Wallace.
Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent, told the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe on Sunday night that the 34-year-old forward told him to call off meetings the agent was in the process of scheduling with the Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

Rich get richer. Shame, too. He would've been a great fit for Cleveland.
I do think that the NBA officials are now going to dread working in Boston. There will probably be a multiplier effect to the technical fouls the Celtics will get, now. The cumulative effect of all the bitching, whining, taunting, and physical play (a lot of which is legit.) will make the refs call more techs, which will lead to the Celtics bitching more, which will lead to more ejections, which will lead to more fines and suspensions.
On second thought, I like this signing a lot less than I thought I did.
This Celtics team reminds me a little bit of the 2003 Lakers. Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Kobe and Shaq. Lots of big name talent closer to the end of their careers. The Celtics are hoping this turns out better than the Lakers season did last year.

The East if going to be VERY tough this year.
I agree. I don't see this team remaining healthy and frankly I don't see them having much of a shot going against the Cavs. The Celtics are way too old at this point. It worked in 2007-08, but it's not going to work in 2009-2010.
