Rumor Artest to the Lakers?

I actually think that this might be the end of the road for Odom in LA. As much as he wants to stay I don't think we can afford both Odom AND Ariza.

Quote:
If the Lakers are unable to sign Lamar Odom or Trevor Ariza, they might pursue Houston forward Ron Artest, who made $7.4 million last season but became more attractive to the Rockets almost overnight amid reports that center Yao Ming might miss next season because of a broken foot. Artest, 29, sat courtside for some Lakers home playoff games but would probably have to take a pay cut to play for a team that is conscious of the luxury-tax penalties looming in the future. -- LA Times

I honestly would not be that upset to see Odom go as long as we get someone like Artest in his place. Artest will show up every night, Odom is so up and down night after night, it is hard to tell what you are going to get. Cheers to this rumor.

I completely disagree. Artest may show up, but sometimes he'll show up in the 4th row of the stands. Odom was consistent when it mattered, i.e. the finals. Also, the Lakers are better off with players who can be productive without shooting. Artest needs the ball in his hands, and the triangle doesn't work that way unless you're Kobe or a pure post guy.

This might be someone in the Lakers FO putting this rumor out to get Odom and Arizia signed...or maybe it was Artest's people trying to get Houston to sign him. Either way, it is funny. The ship has sailed on this one. The Lakers won without Artest's antics....why would they sign on now? I don't see this happening.

I heard Ariza is leaning towards leaving the Lakers.. Wouldn't be a bad move if the Lakers got Artest...
