Rep Power: 29 | | Update: Werth named to All-Star team With Beltran out for the All-Star game, Charlie Manuel has interesting decision to make. Does he go with Matt Kemp or his own Jayson Werth? Do you reward your player and make bulletin board material for the other guy (and his team)? The stats are very close. I could go either way, but would love to see an all-Phillies outfield and have the Phillies 2 through 6 hitters all in the All-Star game.
Comparisons:
Werth: .268/.373/.522/20 Homers/54 Rbis/59 Runs/12 SB
Kemp: .319/.386/.489/10 Homers/ 45 Rbis/46 Runs/19 Sb

also hanley might miss the game too i heard. but picking jroll would just be a complete homer pick, tejada should go right? though if it were jroll then imagine having 1 thru 6????? Did you find this post awesome? Yes |

the phillies are good, but they aren't THAT good. | It would be 2-6. They have the best offense in the league. I don't think anyone will question that. The stats prove it.

Rep Power: 17 | | Kemp plays centerfield and with better defense. He does not have the RBI numbers and runs because Joe Torre is insane and always bats him at end of lineup. Plus, Kemp does not play in a banbox of a stadium, that let's guys hit for big numbers.
Kemp is having the better year. Putting up those numbers in centerfield with excellent defense is elite.

Please educate yourself. Citizens Bank Park has not been a bandbox since 2004.
14 Citizens Bank Park 1.007 Runs 1.063 HR 1.002 Hits 0.995 2B 1.139 3B 1.151 BB
It is an average ballpark.
And to own you even more, here is Jayson Werth's stats at home and away:
Home: .233/.326/.507/ 11HR/ 28RBI/35 runs in 150 at-bats
Away: .302/ .418/ .537/9HR/26RBI/ 45 runs in 149 at-bats
It's not the stadium, buddy.
I will give Kemp the edge in the outfield, but Werth is pretty damn good.

Rep Power: 10 | | Werth added to All-Star roster
Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth has been named to the 2009 National League All-Star roster, replacing New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran, who is on the disabled list. Werth was selected by NL manager Charlie Manuel in conjunction with Major League Baseball.
Werth joins the other two Philadelphia outfielders already on the team - Raul Ibanez, elected as a starter by the fans' vote, and Final Vote winner Shane Victorino. The 1995 Cleveland Indians - with Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton and Manny Ramirez - were the last team to have its entire outfield on an All-Star team. Did you find this post awesome? Yes |

We have the best infield in the majors and the best outfield in the NL at least. Crazy.

Rep Power: 27 | | Now, if irony plays out the way it should, Werth will be injured in the All-Star Game, derailing any chance the Phillies had of defending their title, and Charlie Manuel will be criticized by the media and fans for his decision to play Werth and wil be fired. Can't wait.

I will give Kemp the edge in the outfield, but Werth is pretty damn good. | Not playing as badly as it did originally, but it is still one of 14 parks playing in favor of hitters and it is top ten in HRs.
Werth is obviously good at has done well away, but does not mean his home stats get helped.
RBIs and Runs are meaningless though since they are team dependent. Not Kemp's fault Torre is a bit crazy.

I'd like to see Kemp fill-in for Ibanez, but it looks like Raul will play against the Pirates and will start in the ASG.

Yeah, you are right that fucking cheater A-Roid is better than Feliz. Utley is much better than Cano.

I bet Ripken could come out of retirement today and still cover more ground.
