Fyi Attention: Use tags appropriately

Contrary to the belief of a few, the tags at the bottom of posts are not for expressing your middle school years' sexual frustration.

This is a forum of adults. Please act as if you are old enough to go potty by yourself.

As with everything else, it seems as if a few have to ruin it for the masses. A couple novelty tags turned into a tsunami of stupidity. If you are found to perpetually post ignorant taggings to every thread you read, we'll have to give you a break from the forum.

Just use common sense guys.

The main purpose for tags was to help search engines index more pages. I left it open to users just in case there were important keywords the AUTO tagger missed. For the most part, the auto tagger will do the tagging just fine. And the main problem with tags is that it does not track who puts what.

Solutions -> remove all current tags and re-tag with the auto tagger. Sorry to have to take away some functionality, but it will better for the site overall.

Maybe y'all should put a "pretend fake tags" section so those of us who can, but choose not to go potty by ourselves, can take out our middle school frustrations.

My psychiatrist says that this is a much better outlet than when I stand outside the local middle school and beat up 7th graders for their lunch money.

Really, Dawg? 7th graders? I can only handle 4th graders. 7th grade girls are MEAN.

They're mean but they have weak fighting technique. I also like to get them to like me (because I have a car) then we go on a date to the mall and I leave them there.

Gribbz,

The problem is not the inflammatory nature of the tags. It is, as rob said, the fact that the site is indexed on search engines using them.

I understand the joke and I will admit I laughed at a few of the tags. But when you see the work "COCK" in massive letters on the home page, it will damage the value of many pages when Google(and other search engines) attach that keyword to a number of pages that probably could of been better indexed with quality tags.

Again this is such a small functionality overall for the site, and it is an anonymous functionality, which is no good.

How many times do we have to write "COCK" before it gets tagged in this thread? What about "GREG ODEN COCK BABY ARM APPLE"?

Rob, what happened to "liking" or "disliking" posts...

I generally only like posts like the most of the people on here unless someone says something over the top retarded.

Liking and Disliking posts is still a feature that is available, but just on certain forums. I have not enabled it for this forum.

And you only have to tag threads about 20-30(rough guess) times with a word and it should start showing up on the popular tags list.

Funny that "gribbzz" is misspelled in your post and in the tag.

Maybe in another thread but the one I copied it from I cannot find anymore. It is however in this thread as well spelled correctly.

Check out any thread, for that matter. The commandment offered in the thread title is not a passive order, but rather an active one. We are all instructed to use tags appropriately - not to refrain from using them inappropriately. Thus, if you're looking at threads and not adding appropriate tags, you too are subject to discipline.

There is no rule for tags because I just didn't think about it to be honest. However, since tagging is going to be a non-issue after tonight, there is no need for the rule.
