Well, i wanted to make a post back on the original topic.

i think the NFL has a stranglehold on the NFL players, so i can see peace in the horizon. The rookie scale makes sense for both parties, but the union won't cave without gaining something....but in the end, both sides lose a lot of dough in a tough economy if they fight too much. I still think the NFL teams should open up the books, but we might see pigs fly before see that.

In the NBA....the lockout really hurt the players. Now, the owners want to do away with fully guaranteed contracts....I for one, would love to see that. Seeing a team hampered by one of these Allan Houston type of deals is just draining on a fan base. Again, the players will want something in return, but I see peace above all because in this economy, a work stoppage helps no one, but the other league who is still playing.

Its good to see that you believe in one God. Are you tryna say that the Quran as written by Prophet Muhammad? Care to explain why you believe that it was written by man?

I can't wait to see how this whole discussion resolves itself.

Of course, I'm quite interested in discussing such topics with both Barreh and gribbzz, but I'll just sit back and watch for a while...

If political threads are no longer allowed to appear on the front page, than this thread, along with any other laced with religion shouldn't be allowed on the front page either. I couldn't give a rat's ass if the topic starts out as a sports thread. This thread has turned into an insult.

Would it be cool if I just entered all other threads and started bashing the shit out of Obama, Pelosi, Reid et al? And then somebody came back with anti-conservative views? The high-jacking of threads to push somebody else's religion down the rest of our throats will cause a great many of us to go back into hibernation.

Since we're highjacking threads with religion, I'll just make sure to insult both points of view in this thread.

I've met precious few "peaceful" muslims in my time. Most of them tried to blow me up or shoot me. They can't even be peaceful amongst themselves. Hence the whole Middle East is a constant war zone, and despite their vast riches of oil, most can't effectively read or write, or support a household.

I've met very few christians who aren't extremely hypocritical, and most show up to church to be seen by others, not to praise and worship their God. I can stomache relatively few of these people.

Any Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, or other want to make a remark? I've probably got life lessons learned about these folks too. Agnostics and Atheists? Don't get me started.

My point is, get the religion the hell off the front page, or allow politics back on.

I personally have no issue with religion not appearing on the front page. There needs to be a religion section in order for that to happen. Was it really necessary to make fun of religion to get your point across. If anyone can prove me and my religion wrong, I will never post anything about religion on SRM. Since gribbz made the comment saying that the Holy Books were man written, he needs to be the 1st person I debate.

At what point did I make fun of religion? Since when is a simple relaying of ones personal encounters in life translate into making fun of someone or something? To be a follower of something, one should recognize it's shortcomings, otherwise you aren't objectively analyzing your belief system. It'd be like me saying the Steelers are the perfect football team, they have no flaws, and the only way they can be beaten is by referee intervention. Or that the Libertarian Party is the only political ideology that should be followed, because it is the perfect system. All other systems have no merit, and Libertarianism has no flaws. I sound like a jackass, don't I?

Anyway, that's all I'm contributing to this fiasco, otherwise I continue to perpetuate the very thing I'm complaining about.

At least have the courtesy to debate your religious ideology in a thread that has to do with religion, not sports. Try some of that kindness and respect to your fellow man stuff your religion teaches.

The books, whether we are considering the Bible or the Qur'an or some other document, were written by the hand of man.

Whether or not we, individually, believe that they were divinely inspired, kept 100% correct by divine intervention, or that God/Allah/Higher Being was whispering in the ear and directing the pen/quill/chalk in the hand of the writters.... the fact remains, it was a man's hand that wrote the texts.

After reading your statement again, I realized that you were talking about the followers and not the religion. Forgive me for misreading your statement. Lets not compare following a team to believing in a religion.

The Quran are the actual words of God. God Sent Angel Gabriel to reveal the Quran to Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) memorized it and his companions wrote it down. The Quran was gradually revealed over a span of 23 years. You are correct when saying that is was written by the hand of man but it doesn't change anything.

This was going to be my response. I encounter mankind on a daily basis, I have a hard time believing anything a normal person writes never mind someone who was "sent from God" to write something. We call those people crazy.

I can see the NBA getting locked out. The league is definitely slipping.

I just have to believe the NFL and the NFLPA get a deal done. It may take a while. It may take some last minute negotiations to see who blinks at all the money they would be walking away from. There is just too much money out there to suffer through a lockout. To put the league and its fans through the torture of a lockout would be unconscionable. The pro bowl had record ratings. The Super Bowl had an all time TV record ratings bonanza! A lockout would kill it all!
